So what exactly is a tektite? The origins of this magical stone have been the subject of debate for many years. One theory is that tektites were formed from volcanic eruptions and the other theory is that tektites were formed from meteorite impacts. Popular opinion generally believes in the latter. When the molten glass matter plummeted to the earth, it cooled and hardened forming various shapes such as teardrops, balls, and dumbells. The word tektite is Greek in origin, literally meaning "molten". Tektites are usually black or brown in color. The stones take on a different texture after they have been polished, appearing much more glossy and smooth. Although they are found all over the world, the largest areas where tektites have been found in in China and Australia.
Tektite is an extremely good meditation stone. It is said that because it is such a high vibration stone, it is useful for extraterrestrial communication and can enhance psychic abilities. It is also used to treat physical illness and is effective in clearing all of the chakras.
